The Indian subsidiary of Denmark-based heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) firm Danfoss became the latest entrant in the long list of MNCs to expand or set up production units in Oragadam.
The firm started making drives at its Oragadam factory in September. These are extensively used in industries such as food and beverages, plastics, air compressors, and equipment manufacturers.
The company plans to invest Rs 100 crore to expand its production of power drives and it would also lead to a ramp-up of the workforce by 300people.
Big attraction
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Oragadam was able to corner a sizeable amount of the Rs 15,128 crore worth of investments TN had attracted this year. It includes companies such as Daimler India Commercial Vehicles and Salcomp.
Experts feel that the location has all the potential to be a major global contract manufacturer in areas such as automobile ancillaries, smartphones, electronic items, etc. It also has the required labour force in abundance.
