Connectivity to Oragadam gets a boost as Railways plans to revive the line to Sriperumbudur

Railway track

Travelling to and from Oragadam will be a breeze as Indian Railways is planning to revive the Sriperumbudur-Guduvanchery new line in a bid to tap into the commuter and freight potential of industrial belts in the city.

Oragadam – Sriperumbudur industrial belt

Popular for a high concentration of industries and units pertaining to the automobile sector, Oragadam along with Sriperumbudur has seen major investments from foreign companies in recent times. Over the years the locality has become one of the largest automobile hubs in the world. International automobile majors like Daimler AG, Renault–Nissan, and Komatsu have set up their manufacturing plants here and will use it as a base for sourcing for their national and international markets.

Some of the other leading industries with manufacturing units in Oragadam include Apollo Tyres, Asian Paints, Bosch India, Delphi-TVS Diesel Systems Limited, India Yamaha Motor, Mindarika Private Limited (Indo Japanese Joint Venture), Nokia Siemens Networks, Nissan, Nokia SEZ, Royal Enfield, and Sandhar Technologies.

Homeseekers delight

Oragadam is also a top destination for new-age home seekers. Many top builders have come up with projects here. One project that stands tall in this destination is Hiranandani Parks. Located in the heart of Oragdam, the sprawling 360-acre mega township has the perfect mix of high-raised luxurious 2.5/ 3 BHKs and premium plots. The self-sufficient township boasts of uninterrupted and round-the-clock pure water, power & connectivity. The 24/7 surveillance and enhanced security offer a secured and safe environment to the family members. What’s more, easy rental and leasing options are available for homeowners who wish to rent out their homes.

Enhanced connectivity

The rail connectivity will further bolster connectivity to the locality. After several requests from the public, industry, and political parties, the link was included in the railway budget way back in 2013-14. Railways took up a survey to find out the land requirement and other details but the project did not take off. Sensing the potential in these areas for passengers and freight, the Indian railways has revived the new line project. The move comes after Southern Railways gave a renewed push to freight movement by attracting cars, heavy equipment, and other new streams of traffic.
